Dear Parents and Friends

Toy Library Ghana opened its doors 1 year ago and we are working hard as ever to make it better and more accessible to as many children as possible. After a few fits and starts, we have expanded services and increased our toy inventory. We have some exciting news to tell you.

First I am pleased to introduce Dr. Susanna Stevens, our Public Health consultant who has taken on the many tasks of promoting, managing and helping to developing new ideas and concepts for the library. Many of you have met Dr. Susanna already! She joined CHILDAccra this past March and has done an incredible job. Thanks to her, the library now provides a couple of new services, Story time with puppets and Play dates where we come to your home. Dr Susanna comes from the Netherlands and is a Physician.

The Second big news is that TOY LIBRARY GHANA will soon have its own website and mobile link. Keep a watch out for our big announcement when it is completed. You will be able to access the website through your smartphone or tablet.

Other news for you to know about are as follows:

Regular Library time in the clinic is still Tuesday – Friday 9-4 and Saturday 9-12.
Mobile service is available to schools and agencies where we are go out and children who are members can choose a new toy each week. If your child’s school is interested in being a participant, please let us know.
Story telling puppet show time: Toy Library Ghana now offers a story telling time with different books suited for children of different ages. the story-time will be a little show with (hand)puppets (stuffed animals) also, to make is even more fun and educational.
Our newest service are play dates: Toy Library Ghana now offers play dates, where Toy Library Ghana will bring all sorts of toys and games to your home for a very special play date. We will instruct kids and caregivers how to use the games and the playing will be overseen by our Librarian. We will also make sure all goes well and the kids get along. We are child specialist and upon request we can observe for any developmental difficulties in the children participating. A play date will last one hour, and can take place anywhere (in consultation with Toy Libary Ghana). Parents are highly encouraged to participate as well to make it a parent-child play date!

Accra July 17, GNA – CHILDAccra has commemorated its 10th Anniversary celebration at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, with a worship, praise and dinner night to celebrate the successes chalked out as a child care medical facility.

The event was filled with jazz music and music performances by artistes including Stephanie Benson and Ms Elsie Ottoo, who thrilled the crowd.

Ministering at the evening event, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the charismatic Action Chapel International Ministry, commended the health institution for the good work done since its decade of establishment.

He urged Ghanaians to contribute their quota to the development of the nation.

Dr Juliette M Tuakli a Pediatrician and the Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, expressed the commitment of her outfit in providing top-notch childcare and maternal healthcare services for visitors to the centre.

She said the clinic had established a toy library to amuse and foster the development of children whenever parents visit the premises.

She said the medical facility would partner schools within the metropolis to expand the library project.

Dr Tuakli used the event to also appreciate the hardworking staff, partners, families, friends and clients for putting up confidence in the clinic.

Some of the activities earmarked for the celebration are the renovation of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital Children’s playground, immunisation of children to mark the World Immunisation day, Child Prevention Week, Child Abuse Week, Children’s Day and Malaria Day.

CHILDAccra was first established as CHILD & Associates in 2006, a small clinic providing medical care solely to children.

As the network of health services and specialists grew, the clinic expanded its scope of services and now serves entire families.

CHILDAccra is organised into the following departments: CHILD & Associates for medical service; caring for families of the West African community, providing quality healthcare services.

The Ream Reproductive Centre provides services to women and girls from puberty to menopause.

Beyond the Nets a non-profit arm of CHILDAccra, raises awareness about infectious diseases and mosquito borne illnesses, HIV and educates patients and the community on preventive measures.

Medical and Public Health training for medical interns and residents abroad and locally.

On July 07, 2016 ChildAccra celebrated 10 years of providing health care to Ghana and the West African community. Friends, Colleagues and Patients partied and celebrated at the Labadie Beach

Hotel with staff. It was an evening filled with celebratory and inspirational words, thoughts, poems and songs dedicated to the hard work and perseverance of Dr. Juliette Tuakli and her resilient team. After 2 months of some really incredible activities that highlighted the work of the clinic last week’s evening event brought home, the courage, humility and dedication that characterize the culture of the clinic.

The 2016 FIVE BEST PARENTING STRATEGIES award goes to Ms. ERINN OFORI!!
